Prior to Fintech Abu Dhabi 2018, Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) launched a crypto asset regulatory framework which instils proper governance, oversight and transparency over crypto asset activities.
The regulations will permit firms to apply for a license to operate a “crypto asset business” in the ADGM, including broker-dealer activities, operating an exchange and acting as a crypto asset custodian, but in each case in respect of the most well established and traded crypto-currencies. The new framework presents a market leading set of regulations designed to be in tune with how crypto firms operate, but recognizing the key risks posed to investors and the financial system as well.
